RE: How the USA is killing the people of the Marshall Islands.
the nuclear weapon, the largest weapon in the era, is a bad invention for humanity, which has caused the deaths of many people, as well as the diseases that will emerge in the future.
It doesn't bother me that nuclear weapons exist... they might be handy if an asteroid headed our way. As always it is a few individuals wanting to flex their muscles who are responsible.
I totally agree. It is not the invention that is bad in itself, it is what we do with it.
Back in the 1970's President Nixon had a choice of fully committing to uranium based nuclear plants (with a byproduct which could be used for weapons) or to continuing to fund research in thorium based nuclear plants (which could not be used for weapons but could continue to be used for medical grade elements). Thorium plants are fail safe ... which means if everything goes wrong, everything stops. Ask yourself if something on your stove is boiling over, what do you do... you take it off the stove. In the case of liquid salt thorium reactors, as soon as something leaves the reactor ... it freezes (freezing point of salts are 1000 degrees). In other words it is "fail" "safe".
