[GUIDE] Fixing your life Part 1 - Identifying problems

in #life8 years ago

Welcome

Today I'm starting a series of life fixing posts ranging from clearing debts to making the most out of your time. If you care to venture through my previous posts you would see several life related articles on there. In these I've spoken about problems that I've recently encountered and I've even made a step towards fixing them.

Before I start though I would just like to stress the fact that I'm not a professional. In fact you should think of these posts less as guides and more of a Text based lets play of life. Everything I post about within this series will be a work in progress, something I, myself will be doing in between typing them out.

So lets start.

Part 1: Identifying your problems

This is something that's incredibly hard to some, me included. People get so caught up in the moment that they fail to identify what it is that's making them tick. Well its time to step back and take a look.
For me the first thing I did was look at the recent events;

Being signed off of work
Major sleep problems
Always in a bad mood
Lack of Motivation

Looking at the bottom 3 on the list, they seem to be common traits in those who are depressed. Depression wasn't new for me, I've gone through phases of it since I've finished school and what I learnt from those times is that there is always a reason for it.
So I looked back, trying to find out when all my symptoms first occurred. I asked those close to me when they noticed a change in my mood and the common consensus was that it started around a year and a half a go;- Right when I started seeing A girl.

With this information I was able to sit down and really think about my relationship with her. She had moved in very shortly after we had got together and for those of you that have done this, you will know that it can very quickly become something you regret.
I'm not going to go in to exact detail about what occurred; But it was very obvious to me around the 6 month mark in the relationship that some major changes needed to happen in order for us to stay together and like many in a similar position to me, I kept telling myself it would. It never did and that is exactly what had been getting me down for the last year or so(Along with some other things which I'll delve into in my next post).

So I am now single. The house which we lived in together is empty of all of our belongings and we've gone our separate ways. It's only been a week or so since then but my mood is starting to get better. I'm finding reasons to get up in the morning, making plans and sticking to them. But best of all, I'm motivated.

This is just one example of something that could be going wrong in your life that you aren't aware of. But hopefully someone will find this information useful. Thank you for reading, the Steemit Community is playing a major role in my recovery!
