INCLUSION: BRAILLE SYSTEM

in #life9 years ago

Heello dear friends of steem, today I want to talk about something that attracted my attention, for nobody is a secret that we are all different, our color, size, height, weight, etc. In fact there are people born with certain conditions other than the " Normal ".

This is the case of the blind people .. can you imagine seeing everything "black", not being able to admire the things of nature, see our loved ones, use your smartphone? What a complicated matter, right? I find it hard to cope with the fact that it is harder to do things from our day to day, the things that are supposed to be common to people.

One of the things that do not teach small and that is never forgotten is a look, and now they wonder, as a blind person reads? By using another valuable, which has and does not know how to appreciate, as is the touch.

Well if friends, through the Braille system, blind people can read in their fingers, and it is this system that wants to speak to them in specific, so it seems to me that at the time was something innovative and inclusive.

Braille is a tactile reading and writing system designed for blind people. It is also known as cecography. It was devised by the French Louis Braille in the mid-nineteenth century, who was blinded by an accident during his childhood while playing in the highest of his father. When he was 13 years old, the director of the School of the Blind and the Deaf in Paris - where he studied the young Braille - he asked to test a tactile reading-writing system invented by a soldier named Charles Barbier to send orders to outposts without having Need to report the position during the nights. Louis Braille discovered the end of a time that the system was valid and reinvented it using an 8 point system. After a few years simplified leaving it in the universally known system and adopted 6 points.

The Braille alphabet

Since 1825, when Louis Braille devised his system of raised points, people who have had a valid and effective tool to read, write, compose or engage in computing.

The system is not a language, but an alphabet. With Braille you can represent letters, punctuation, numbers, scientific spelling, mathematical symbols, music, etc. Braille usually consists of six-point cells in relief, organized as a matrix of three rows by two columns, which are conventionally numbered from top to bottom and from left to right.

The presence of absence of points allows the coding of the symbols. Through these six points 64 different combinations were obtained. The presence of the absence of a point in each position determines which letter is involved. Since these 64 combinations are clearly unlimited, special distinctive signs are used which, in combination of dots, convert a letter into capital letters, italics, numbers or musical notes. In Spanish braille, lowercase codes, most punctuation marks, some special characters and some words are coded directly with a cell, but capital letters and numbers are also represented by another name as a prefix.

Example

These characters represent the number six, which is written "prefix numeral + f" which is equal to 6.

I hope that these lines serve to have a deeper knowledge of what some people are unaware of, they also make it reflect and value something as simple as reading these lines.

With a big greeting, I say goodbye.
