Each participant can express his personality during these few days, regardless of the conventions imposed by society regarding both the dress and behavior. Larry Harvey continued to contribute to his concept and in 2004 he created 10 main principles that are the only standards to this day. Among them, he mentions full and sincere commitment to a joint project, own initiative, independence from consumerism, self-expression, or experiencing art. Participants in a joint effort, without the help of sponsors and media, create a festival open to everyone every year. The limit may be ticket prices, which oscillate between 400 and even over 1000 dollars. It is a kind of contribution, because every penny from the sale is allocated to the organization - no one makes money from it. However, the most interesting element that differentiates Burning Man from other festivals is that everyone has to get involved in the way that suits him best. It is thanks to this that each subsequent edition becomes unique, which gives a sea of possibilities.

Burning Man is a phenomenon already known in ever wider circles. Year by year, it is becoming more and more iconic not only in the States but also around the world. What is Burning Man then? It is a response to the capitalist exploitation of the young society, which, tired of pursuing success, omnipresent selfishness and imposed schemes, seeks alternatives for a better life. The vision sounds a bit utopian, but maybe it is transformational festivals that are already organized in Europe, in the future they will become a common phenomenon promoting broadly understood contemporary art and other, non-materialistic approach to the world.
