Vegan mythbusting #5
In this series I aim to bust the many myths that exist about Vegans and Veganism.
MYTH: Vegans smell.
Yes, believe it or not this is a real thing. You would be surprised at the stupid things that I hear. Many of the accusations that are made about vegans have 0 backup whatsoever. You will probably even see things here on whaleshares that openly mock vegans for whatever reason. So I decided to see if I could find any evidence to support this basically stupid statement. So I searched and searched, It is not the easiest thing to find a scientific study that would back up these claims. I actually could not find one study that would back this up. What I did find however was this study which was conducted to discover the effect of meat consumption on body odour attractiveness. I can only guess that the study was commissioned to try to prove that meat makes you smell better. Never the less the study found that the subjects that consumed no meat for a 2 week period were rated as considerably more pleasant, more attractive and less intense to the female testers. The Meat free diet is indicated in the grey bars in the graph below. So it would seem that vegans do smell, they smell better and have a more attractive scent to their meat eating counterparts!
