Hey everyone!

IMG_0978.JPG

I see steemit is chugging along! We took a small two day break from posting. Got really busy these last two days. Feel a little guilty. There so much content that I missed out on. I'm sure everyone has been posting good post that deserves upvoted and commentatating. I'll be super busy today 🤗 adding to the Steemit community. For those of you who have 't figured it out yet, we are a husband and wife team that power this account. We know, we know....we should both have a separate account. We could both be earning. We have heard this already. The thing is, it seriously takes the both of us to keep this account alive. We are not social media professionals. Before joining Steemit we had no Facebook, no Twitter, no Snapchat, no Instagram, no whatever else is out there. We saw a long time ago how much time social media was taking from people's lives and how it was being controlled by the government as a way to keep track of people, increminate some, and generally become a free database that people were voluntarily signing up for. We stayed clear from that, because we value privacy and individuality. Wish more people would have realized what was going on with social media platforms before it was too late. Now most everyone is on one and Facebook is owned by the FBI, go figure. The age of privacy is pretty much dead, and we were starting to be left out of the cyber revolution, so in comes Steemit. When we joined we did not take it lightly. We talked about it to see if it was a good move for our family and the world. Eventually we decided, HECK YES! It's a social media platform that actually gives back to it's users regardless of how big their account is. This is something no other social media platform has done. Sure you can get paid off of youtube for having thousands of followers, but that's if you have thousands of followers and your not getting paid very much... We like how Steemit is an open and gives everyone a chance to make money because we can all upvote each other directly.

That's not to say that expectations will equal reality. We have been posting on Steemit for about one week and here is our honest analysis:

Pros

  • It was fairly easy to sign up
  • There is a magnitude of good information scanning through the feed, very entertaining
  • Earning Potential
  • Provides Good company
  • Website is easy to use

Cons

  • It took 3 days to get approved to join
  • Confusing rewards infrastructure
  • The steemit platform has a very in depth system of how people gain rewards for their content. We are still learning how it works. Most people who join think it is posting content and upvoting and earning rewards, but there is a lot more to it than that. First of all, it seams like long time Steemit alumni are sticklers about "good content". The post must be extremely long, and have taken 3 hours of your day to write, the post must be your own original content, add plenty of pictures and generally be a good writer. It has been a little intimidating reading some of these college educated post. It's almost like reading the Huffington Post! It begs the question, who is Steemit for? I understand that steemit has around 200,000 users right now. That is guppy size compared to the 2 BILLION Facebook users. The people on steemit right now, are shaping steemit. I wonder what shape it will take once the youth make the switch and get on this platform. If they even jump on the Steemit train, which would need to happen in order for Steemit to get really big. There is talk on Steemit of "whales" floating around. First of all, we dislike this hierchy. This is essentially putting power into the government hands or elites on Steemit. The whales have tremendous voting power and with one click can make an account very popular, and they are using this power to shape Steemit how they think it should be. They are making it how they want and not leaving it to the Steemians to organically shape this platform. Allowing it to become the balanced melting pot that it could be. It comes off as a snobby platform that is work. In our opinion this is not good for Steemit because the appeal of Facebook, twitter , Instagram etc is the ability to easily post whatever is on your mind or whatever you may be doing at the time. It's an opportunity to share with everyone without much effort. It becomes an outlet for the majority of users to connect easily and gain acknowledgment from their followers. We are not quite sure that Steemit fulfills that need at this time. According to how Steemit works, you should only be upvoting about 20 times a day. That's it. Otherwise you run the risk of diluting your voting power and payouts. We don't think that's enough upvoting opportunities. There is a lot of good content on Steemit, and someone took their time to put it together. The fact that people might be withholding their upvotes on these post because they allready voted 20 times that day saddens me, because someone is not getting the validation/acknowledgment that's due for their efforts. Maybe Steemit wasn't suppose to be this way though...maybe users were intended to upvote content unrestrained and payout rates would rise together as more users joined. It seems like a few users have allready figured out how to make the most of the system, but isn't that what is wrong with society today? We have a group of people "the elite" who have figured out how to make the most out of the earth for themselves. Essentially creating a divide and taking away from others.

For example: we just watched the movie Swiss Robinson Family and in the plot they did not want their boys to get drafted for the war in the Americas so they put all their belonging on a ship and set sail to New Geune to start a new life. On the island they shipwrecked on they had freedom to do anything they needed to do for their lives. The world was theirs and they weren't worrying about stepping on anyone's toes or asking permission to do things they needed to do in order to survive. Has anyone else ever had the thought that the baby boomer F$&*ed it for all of us? (No offense baby boomers) We sometimes sit and reflect on our parents and wonder, what the hell happened? Where were they the last 50 years? How could they have helped shape the world into this prison. As millennial speaking it is very hard for our generation to make a way for ourselves. The generations before us has set the system up for their generation and future generations . It was so much easier for the past generation after the great recession past to buy a house, get a good paying job, start a business, get a bank loan, obtain land, credit scores, and eventually become successful. But that generation was greedy. Either they were greedy or bored because they laid claim to everything they could, and made it harder for others to scale the ladder of success.

Please don't let this be Steemit. The whales should just step back, and continue posting good content and upvoting good content without ulterior motives. Just being a part of Steemit it in the name of all good fun and fairness. We would like to all earn together and give everyone equal power. Sure, the appeal of being powerful in the Steemit community is appealing to the whales, but they don't need to rule over everyone in order to be powerful. That's the government/elites mistake. Don't do this here. There is power in faith and understanding. Try those hats on. You'd be surprised what a relief it is to relinquish control.

Speaking about control. Monday was a long day. We had scheduled a birth certificate visit for our youngest
baby Goji. He is 9 months old and we are just now getting his birth certificate. We had him at home by ourselves. No doctors or midwife. Just Michael and Kamillie and our other 5 children sleeping in the next room. It was super natural and everything went perfect. Michael cut the cord and Kamillie healed perfectly. This is the way nature intended a birth to be. We were scared but we had faith in ourselves and the birthing process. Our baby was born free! A free spirit, belonging to no one- yet. Hospitals didn't have record of him, the Social Security Administration didn't have him indebted to the country just yet. We let this ride as long as we could. The idea of Goji being a free 👶 babe, just as nature intended. With Trumps new Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI) that states all travelers should be prepared to present a current United States passport we had to get Goji's birth certificate ASAP because we live on Mexico's border and we will be travel there next. For the record, we are a nomadic family. We enjoy traveling and move frequently. Usually to tropical climate. We have lived in Washington, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Northern California, and currently southern California. We hope to travel all around the world and be a world traveling family. We firmly believe that the world is our playground and we intend to play! In order to play we will need passports for all 8 of us. So we all trooped over to the local health department and made our baby "legal". Here is a photo of the mural inside. Study it close, remember a picture says 1000 words. We have always felt that the healthcare system has a Dr. Frankenstein attitude.

Notice the astronaut in the top right corner extracting something and transporting it to the scientist test tube and to the plants. They like to sneak truth in the murals. Ever seen the Denver Airport murals? That is a trippy one, maybe we will cover it on a Steemit post.

So after our hiatus Monday from Steemit we decided Tuesday we would go and get some really cool Drone shots to share with the community. Michael got all the phantom batteries charged and his drone ready for flight, while Kamillie got all the children in the car with promises of exploring the park. Mt. Laguna is close by so we headed there. It is an eleven mile windy incline off the freeway. Why did our beloved truck decide to overheat today? We dont know, but it did. We had to pull over to let it cool down. Michael pulled out the phantom and got shots here.

Hope you guys enjoyed those shots. We would have gotten more if we made it to the top- LOL! As it was we had to deal with our truck. We filled up the coolant reservoir and coasted down the mountain. The real troubles started once we hit the freeway and the car overheated again so we had to pull over and let it cool down. We went to three different auto stores in this manner. Stopping to let the truck cool down along the way. We noticed a gasket leaking by the radiator, but none of the shops had this part. Don't you just hate car trouble. Imagine our dilemma. We were 1.5 hours away from home with our car overheating every 5 miles. What to do? Kamillie didn't even pack the baby's bottle because she thought we would be home by dinner time. Finally we found a shop that will order the part and have it by 9am the next morning. Good enough. We drove to the nearest store and loaded up on distilled water for the trek back home. At this point it was 8pm. Michael discovered another leak that was spilling out water as fast as he was pouring it in. We knew how dangerous it was to drive with an overheating engine. We didn't want to damage the car, but we didn't know what else to do. So we started our 65 mile drive back home stopping periodically to fill up the engine water. Imagine our surprise when we saw a car on fire on the side of the freeway. It looked like there was a man inside too! Michael pulled off the road (car needed to cool down anyway, right) and ran down to see if everything was ok. The children were sleeping in the car at this point. They are obsessed with superheroes. Leave it to the kids to sleep through the exciting stuff.

The burning car on the freeway is now stopping traffic. Other drivers are afraid to go past, because it might just be the moment it hits the gas tank and blows up! We were first on the scene before a couple other cars stopped to help as well. Kamillie tried calling the fire department through those highway phones, but the operator told her it was for road side assistance only. WTH! Hello! Burning car here, talk about needing emergency road side assistance! We were waiting for about 30 mins before firefighter arrived.

Turns out the man in the vehicle was an 83year old whose car overheated and caught fire! He was ok though. Michael helped him out of the car and led him to a safe spot away. He stayed with him until firefighters arrived and took over the situation.

Here is Michael walking back to the car, which hopefully should have had time to cool down by now.😆

We got back in the car and continued our journey home. Stopping every 5 miles or so to refill the coolant and let the truck cool down. What a fiasco! We got home after 11pm. Exhaustedly carried in each one of our 6 babies, changed them into pj's and tucked them into bed.

The day was long, the excitement was strong, but we made it all along!

This post took us 5 hours to write up! Geez it's a lot of work being a STEEMIAN sometimes! Thanks for reading.

It was fate. We were delayed to go home with car trouble all day, which I'm still trying to fix by the way, and then we saw that car on 🔥 fire. That definitely doesn't happen every day!

Welcome back monkimo.

Wow - what a story - it is great that you save the old man. Sorry for the car woes. I bet despite the car you felt fantastic. It is normally a wonderful feeling when you do something nice for someone else.
