Do I Look Groovy?

Do I look groovy baby?

I certainly felt groovy when I recently worked on a 70s movie set for background work. It was the first time I had ever done anything like it before and it was an interesting experience to say the least. I’m not allowed to say what it was that I was in but I can say when it took place and that it was quite fascinating being dressed up with the other extras all in 70s attire and with 70s props everywhere. We weren’t allowed to have our phones on set and sometimes we were on set for up to 3 hours. It sounds like I can’t live without my phone, but we all know in today’s day and age 3 hours is a long time to not have your phone on you in the middle of the day. However, it did help add to the authenticity of the 70s atmosphere. Plus all the God Damn smoke they were pouring in there. There was smoke machines going all day, in addition to everyone smoking cigarettes. I’m sorry I meant “herbal cigarettes”. THEY’RE FUCKING HORRIBLE! Not only do they taste like shit but they ash in a strange way. They start making this spear shape on the tip if you don’t hit them after a while. But the ash doesn’t stay on like a normal cigarette it just starts falling off while it is still lit! Fucking embers start flying off these things. I almost lit myself on fire when I was smoking one because I had it just sitting in my mouth and I turned my head and an ember came down and burned a hole in my shirt. Well it wasn’t my shirt it was the studios, but still! A few weeks ago some fire fighter died from a fire that was caused on a movie set and they said it was from a fake cigarette. I know why now, these things are dangers as fuck. Let them smoke real cigarettes.

All the drinks are fake too. The wine is just water with some food coloring in it and the champagne is ginger ale. They also had some fake blow but I’m pretty sure it was crushed up vitamin B, or at least that’s what some other extra dude told me. The real stuff in the show was all impressive. They brought in a bunch of 70s cars. There was a 73 silver Jaguar that looked sexy. They also had this 73 Fleetwood Caddy that was freaking huge, I’ve never seen a car with a back seat so big in my life. They also had a bunch of 70s cameras and recorders.

Some other studs I was working with, the guy in the white shoes was a boss.

I was lucky enough to work at this awesome location in Queens, NY and had a beautiful view of the city from the rooftop.
