Today I would like to share a wonderful news with you all and I am sure you will love to read this. In the morning as soon as I got up and took the newspaper in my hand I came across this beautiful news about British Transplant Games. I had never heard about it in past and nor I had any idea about what it is but when I read it completely I felt so good. So, I decided to share it with you all.

British Transplant Games also are known as, 'The Celebration of Life." is a type of event in which two types of players can participate, first those who had a transplant of any body part and second those who are a donor. More than 1000 players participated in 24 different categories of games which includes Squash, Archery, Volleyball, Snooker, Basketball, Golf, Table tennis, Swimming, Cycling, Badminton, Bowling etc. Also, donor run is a type of game in which donor participates.

These games started on 2nd August and finished on Sunday. Players of age 2 to 80 years are eligible to participate.

History

First Transplant Games took place in 1978 in Portsmouth. The person behind bringing this concept was Consultant transplant Surgeon Morris Slapeck. Initially, only 100 participants were allowed and it was a one-day event. In this 35 years, it has become a four-day event for one day.

Motive

The main motive behind this event is to increase organ donation awareness. Few people play to win the contest while others play to make new friends. Few of them prepare for World Transplant Games through this event.

The above picture is of Bronze Medal winner in Cycling. He said after his victory, " last year my kidney got damaged and I lost all the hope. Then my mother donated her kidney to me and she asked me to start cycling and within a year I won a medal in cycling."

I was very much motivated and happy after reading this news. I hope it must have motivated you as well. If it has then do share your comments below.

Thanks for your time and patience.
