What are Elon Musk's Future Plans For His New Tesla Factory?

in #life8 years ago (edited)

At his factory in Freemont, California, he is currently going full steem ahead (excuse the pun!) with the production of 1 million Tesla cars a year by the year 2020 - quite a stiff target.

German made robots click and whirr whilst working away on the lightweight aluminium chassis bodies for the Model S. Tesla has recently invested $1.6 billion in its new factory and already has pre-orders for over 400,000 vehicles.

All the final touches are done by hand. These include attaching seats (for safetys sake), adding instruments and fitting door handles. Tesla expects the output in the factory to reach 500,000 cars a year by the end of 2018.

** Incidentally, all the robots on the production floor are named after characters from the X-Men movies, so we have Wolverine, Storm, Magneto etc. **

Nice touch Tesla.

Those German robots look scary!

Must be a surreal experience to watch them.

That factory floor would, indeed, be a dangerous place for soft, fragile, frail human bodies.

soft, fragile, frail human bodies - yup! That's us! SCARY!! Crunch bones OUCH!! Like a game of All Blacks rugby then!

...love to see Richie McCaw vs Wolverine!

A random % of this posts $'s will be sent to @timcliff to aid his Steem Witness server.

26.25% has been sent to Tim - why not!

All $1.6 billion of it - an INCREDIBLE outlay for a factory!!

Germany wants to ban all internal combustion engines by 2030, so this will play well into Musk's hands.

We'll be 11 years into Brexit by then, so I can still drive my sports car without any EU intervention = HAPPY DAYS :-)
