Pain
Pain is constant in life, most times as humans when we feel pains we begin to ask question, we start to seek answers as to why we feel these pains and we look for ways to stop feeling them.
These could be physical or emotional pains. Sometimes they seem so unbearable and we begin to give up, we even begin to see the pain we feel as a curse or something we need to get rid of badly.
We begin to take what I will describe as painkillers because we want to feel free so easily, because we don't want to process the pain or yet still we feel we can't stand the chance of breaking down.
These painkillers could be medical pills for physical pain and it could be alcohol, hard drugs, sex, music or even partying and having fun. But these can only work temporarily as they can't heal the pains but rather they make us forget the pains are there. Soon our body adapts to them and becomes dependent.
We soon find out the painkillers can no longer keep away the pains. This is when we really start to seek for the source of these pains and we try to heal but not all pains can be healed.
We learn to befreind these pains, we learn to live with them accepting that they could be our companion for a long time and sometimes forever. So eventually we get used to them, we absorb them and live with them but still we ask why we feel these pains.
These pains usually tell us there is something wrong, that there is something that needs to be healed. Maybe a vacuum that needs to be filled, a relationship that needs tending, a friendship that needs to end or a loss but these things are natural.
We feel pains because it reminds us we are alive, what would be call alive if it was all sweetness and good times. Pains give us feelings, they make us love or hate, they make us understand, they could soften or harden our hearts. It all depends on what we choose to do with the pains we've felt.
But as long as we wake up alive everyday we are bound to feel pain, we need them to remind us we are still alive, that we are still breathing. Pain is essential to us, so rather than asking questions and looking for ways to stop feeling them we should learn to embrace them.
