I have absolutely no problem with women reading or writing erotic, as I have no problem with them watching porn. This, however, doesn’t mean that I think this writing is providing any philosophical, cultural or aesthetic value unless you read something of “marquis De Sade.”
This type of literature is designed not for discovering and revealing the truth, but rather as a relaxation and escape from nagging problems of banal reality.

Now, let me discuss the phrase
Often, unlike our husbands, we were married off young and virginal.

Unless you live somewhere on Arabic peninsula, I don’t see how it is you were “married off.” In the countries of the Western world, where a woman is equal in all respects, no one marries them off. Also, statistically, only about 3% of Americans wait until marriage to have sex. Thus, the semantic validity of the words “often” and “virginal” is also quite problematic.

On the other hand, the phrase itself is charming and stylistically beautifully balanced.
