Maybe you should read "Hadrien Memory" from Marguerite Yourcenar.
Knowing yourself is the hardest thing in life, you discover a little bit of yourself every day. In fact you can't discover some parts of yourself if you don't go around and met people, all kind of people not only those who are "good" for you.
