Burried Treasure in the Rockies
Treasure hunters, this will cause you to salivate. An art dealer age 87 has hidden his treasures in the Rockies. And there's only one clue.
According to millionaire Forrest Fenn:
"No one knows where that treasure chest is but me," Fenn told NPR in 2016. That includes his wife. "If I die tomorrow, the knowledge of that location goes in the coffin with me."
Fenn estimates that as many as 350,000 people have gone hunting for the treasure, he tells CNBC Make It, adding that there is no way of knowing whether anyone has actually gotten close. "It could be found soon or 1,000 years from now," he says.
It may sound like a witch hunt to many of us, it's a dream come true for the descendants of Indiana Jones and Rick & Evelyn (The Mummy). With millions worth of treasures at stake, assembling a team mercenaries and veteran hunters to increase the odds would be well justified. Bring in Lara Croft and you can almost guarantee a huge return.
But before you get too excited, there could be a catch to all of this. The millionaire who hid the treasure is an art dealer. Could the "treasure" be a collection of unsold artworks? If so, were these artworks well protected from the elements in the desert-like conditions?
Further, according to Fenn, he is the only one who knows where the treasure is buried. My point is, if he carried all the treasure by himself to the hiding place, what kind of treasure can a 80 year old carry? Certainly not gold, or any other precious metals. Diamonds are light and easy to hide.
How about cash? If it is, then time is of the essence. The extreme temperature in the Rockies could turn these into a heap of garbage in less than a decade. Note that this was "buried" for almost 8 years now. An 87-year-old millionaire buried treasure in the Rockies—and he’s offered one main clue
Always been fascinated by this!
