Ecotrain Question of the Week November 29th :Why do you think there is so much hate and anger toward Vegans, and why are those who eat meat so threatened by the notion of giving it up?
Ahh, the vegan question... Where shall I begin.
First off,
let me state the obvious. Vegans are not real human beings. They possess some kind of self awareness and ability to rationalize ideas in a way that most of us can not.
Let me further elaborate.
We all know that bacon is one of the healthiest foods on earth. Even one piece of bacon is enough to induce feelings of happiness, well being and satiety.
This, along with the knowledge that good vibes = good healths, leads us to believe that there is something special, possibly even magical in the bacon molecules.
While I am not a chemist, one could assume that they have fewer free radicals or potentially an extra electrolyte or two. This may be the reason that bacon is, undoubtably the most tastiest food on earth.
Now that we have the facts out of the way, let's move on to the more subjective aspect of this discussion.
To recap:
- Bacon is good
- Vegans are somehow immune to bacon, or highly adept at rationalizing the fact that excessive meat consumption can be linked to health issues and is not the best thing for our environment.
With these being knowns, we can now begin to ponder the question ... why do vegans make us so angry?
Hypothesis 1:
Every vegan must tell non-vegans why being vegan is so great, and why non-vegans are inferior for not being vegan.
This is a common one.**
While not all vegans are like this, I have met my fair share to quote various scientific articles at me while I am enjoying a cheese burger.
Yes, I do know that cows are intentionally trying to saturate the atmosphere with methane to eradicate the human race and we need to be cautious and skeptical of our relations with these bovine creatures; but cheeseburgers are really tasty!
While it may be helpful from time to time to spontaneously be exposed to videos of animals being brutally murdered in factory farm settings, throwing fake (or real) blood on people who wear animal products (I'm wearing a wool sweater right now... it is both fashionable, and quite warm) may not be the best way to advance your cause.
Hypothesis 2:
Most people are aware that eating large amounts of meat is not the best for the environment ... but lack the motivation/will power to make large scale changes in their diet (removing a multiple food groups = large change).
This is where I actually stand. (sarcastically not actually being sarcastic).
I think that, in many instances, when we see someone doing something we know we should do, but haven't yet done (for whatever reason) this arouses feelings of insecurity/inadequacy. This, being a negative emotional response, causes us to seek revenge on the thing that elicited this response. Enter vegan bashing ...
Yes, I was unconsciously devouring pounds of carnal flesh a moment ago, and quite enjoying it ... but now I am aware of the legitimate implications of my actions ... and YOU made me feel teh feelz!! How dare you veganifier!
In all jest, vegans are people to.
We should be considerate of their feelings even though some of them are deficit in Iron and other trace minerals found in animal products. While I do love bacon, I try to eat it only when necessary, or when I just really want to eat bacon. Also, I do support killing animals, and if you chose to eat animals, I think you should kill one or two on your own before your next meal of flesh ... because your perspective will shift!!
Good night ... and
ps: because I do care about some people on this platform, and because I want to maintain my reputation as someone who is kind hearted/compassionate ... I don't actually want you to go fuck yourself. I respect @tribesteemup and @ecotrain. They are positive initiatives ... but sometimes we all need to learn to just be a *bit more chill * and go with the flow :)
pps: If I could get on that @tribesteemup swag, I would actually be able to post more awesome content. Right now I live with my dad, have <$200 in my bank account, have yet to be able to secure employment (even on r/jobs4bitcoin) and would really love to get sponsored by you peoples to be more of me.
splendid post!!!! great humour, and some good points.. a rather balanced response, nice job @metama
haha thanks @eco-alex ... wanted to tell the truth while sticking to my roots. Must create teh lolz!
A large majority of all bacon is actually cloned meat in Texas and not bacon at all, your brain has been duped into liking that shite! My 2 cents...
Even though my brain knows this bacon isn't real, but just a collection of nerve signals in my brain ... you know what I've realized ... as long as it's cooked well I don't really mind
Mutant Madness for ALL baaaa!
