PARIS, April, 2016...Trip of a lifetime! THE INSULAR AMERICANS ABROAD...vraiment parfait!

in #life6 years ago (edited)

My wife and I had never been out of North America in the first 30+ years of wedded bliss, but we finally made it to Paris, two years ago. Wish I'd known about Steemit back then. Here is a taste of Paris from an older American couple's view:

Arriving at the taxi stand after the train ride from Charles de Gaulle Airport:

We were there just a couple weeks before some pretty serious flooding of the Seine shut down L'Ouvre, the Musee D'Orsay, and other places close to the river which we would have missed had we gone just a bit later. This was also shortly before the terrible Bataclan Theatre massacre, so we felt fortunate to have been out of the beautiful city by then. This may be old hat to some of you, but these two country bumpkins from Northern Maine were totally enthralled and will never forget it. Much more to come, if anyone likes this posting...

P.S. Volume two now available at my blog...@mepatriot

I's a country bumpkin and I loved these photos. I want more please, it looks like the trip of a lifetime.

what was your favorite place, the L'ouvre? that place looks mind-blowing!

Actually, as much of an art guy as I am.. surprisingly, I liked Versailles even better.

Cool post! Do you speak any French? If not, were you able to get by without it?

You can get by without, as long as you can ask: "Pardonnez-moi, avez-vouz une personne qui parlent Anglais?" Then...8 times out of ten, if it's someone working in public-interface positions, they will start talking English, if not, they'll get someone else behind the counter who will.

I speak some French, but my Russian is far better.

The heart and mind are the true lens of the camera!!
