Drugs, Alcohol and Sex

in #life8 years ago (edited)

I've always thought that you don't choose when you die. It's not a choice unless you commit suicide. But why do people choose to kill themselves? Only when they made poor choices, leading to death, whilst still living.

From a young age I was thought that you choose your own future. Not by just hoping for a good life and there you have it. But by making choices. Your whole life revolves around the choices you make daily.

So how do you choose to kill yourself, but still walk around living a life you regret?

Firstly you make the wrong friends. By trying to fit in with them you do what they do. So if they do drugs, you do drugs. If they get drunk every weekend, you get drunk every weekend. If life is all about sex for them, you're going to think the same, aren't you?

I once had a friend that I met in 2016 at one of my motocross races. Always full of energy. You could see the light in his eyes. At the time he was around the age of 21. Like a normal 21 year old he drank a beer once in a while and had a few girls. But at the end of 2016, he was a wreck. Not doing well in his races, not going to gym, nor sacrificing his weekends to train. And why? Because he made a poor choice in his life, if he intended to or not. Wrong friends and spent his time doing the wrong things. In this past week I saw him again. He came to the track to come ride a bit. By looking into his eyes you could see the light in his eyes are gone. There is nothing left. That's what alcohol and sex does to a person. Not really sure if does drugs, but if he does, it's quiet the perfect storm.

There's much worse in this generation that I don't even want to know about. The world out there, it's full of stuff most people don't teach their children. That leads to those parents paying a monthly bill for rehab. By trying to hide that sick world from their children, they brought it much closer to them than they intended.

By choosing wrong friends, by choosing to do drugs, by choosing to get drunk every time you get a chance, by choosing to make life a hunt for sex, you are choosing to kill yourself from the inside. This just proves that every choice you make has consequences.

This is basically what addicts think:

  • Want to forget? Get drunk
  • Want to feel happy? Take drugs
  • Want to feel loved? Have sex

That isn't the truth though. That's what's being thought in clubs and places that actually shouldn't even exist. People think it's a cure. A cure for an unhappy marriage. A cure for the loss of a beloved person. I believe the only cure is God and prayer. And I believe that serving God gives you more happiness than drugs, alcohol and sex, ever will.

Basically drugs and alcohol make ugly people good looking, it makes rape okay, it makes abusing your wife and kids okay.

Is it really worth taking it then? Is this the life you want your children to live in one day and the path you want them to take?

Who wants to live like this?
Sort:

Want to forget? Get drunk
Want to feel happy? Take drugs
Want to feel loved? Have sex

That was my life for about a decade. I share a little bit about coming out of that life in this video.

We need to look at addiction as a disease and try and help others more. We need to do more than just lock people up for a while.

Words of Wisdom, from a Youngster, Impressed

I think you have it right in this very powerful piece! We need to choose something genuine rather than artificial ways to feel good. I hope this gets read by some people that need to see it. Tweeted!

God can be found in drugs though as almost all religions were formed from the mystics who used them who we now are calling drug addicts. Jesus liked his wine, Shiva utilized marijuana. I would say it's more that certain people should not use drugs or that drugs should only be used for spiritual enlightenment and not for fun. I wrote an entire novels worth of a religion based off a LSD trip that changed me when i encountered an angel of light that showed me the truth of the all. Could it be that it's not the drugs but it is the society we are conditioned to want to escape from? I'd say yes. Fixing this starts with returning those who use drugs to being spiritual mystics and not drug addicts. Drugs, psychedelics more, are part of the experience of enlightenment as well as sex and pleasure, when used responsibly they can be life changing, for the better, or worse.
