Yes, and to be fair to the translators, it is very hard, and maybe impossible, to completely set aside any prejudices and opinions in translation.
The amount of trouble the results might cause can also vary widely... This just happens to be a pretty serious case, where a single word may have given some hateful people a kind of "justification" for their evil thinking...
