MY EXPERIENCE:MY FIRST NIGHT OUT
Growing up in Yaba exposed me to varieties of life events which toughened me up but could have been fatal. Date was 30th of august 2013 match day for Chelsea FC vs Bayern munćhen in the UEFA super cup final and like a dedicated football fan,I was looking forward to the match so I could troll Chelsea fans especially my brother.
I was neither a Chelsea fan nor a Bayern munćhen fan
A few streets from my house was a bar where live matches were shown and the management had previously invited me over but due to strict parenting and school I had not honored their invitation so I thought with my dad not around and mum fast asleep this was the perfect debut.
like I knew what was in for me
On that eventful night I left my house 30 minutes before the kickoff,I was riding solo that night. When I arrived at the bar I felt I've accomplished something good, the atmosphere there was deafening noisy
but what else do I expect from a sport arena other than it been noisy
So the match kicked off with fans of both football clubs having optimistic mind set that their team was going to emerge victorious. There were three groups of fans there;
- The Chelsea fans
- The Bayern fans
- The beefers utd
I fell under the beefers utd. So as my first time out, I was overexcited saying all kinds of stuffs. Like when a player misses a clear chance I'll say
if this was Suarez he'll definitely score it
Everything that has a beginning also has an ending. So as the match came to an end after a thrilling 120mins Bayern munćhen won (5-4) on penalties. It was all looking like a successful night until the dreadful moment.
I was on my way home with some other disappointed fans, I decided to get something to eat
because I was famished from all the shouting and talking
when I got to the shop and had bought what I came for and collected my change the next thing I heard were “Gunshots”,yes gunshots coming from the bar I left just about five minutes ago. I was scared,I felt the adrenaline pumping through my blood. I looked around there was no where to run to, everyone was running helter-skelter. I needed to take cover and I did I crawled under a car (lol), at this point not only adrenaline rushed in my body, different thoughts crossed my mind like
I should have stayed back home, what if this was my last night on earth, do I say my last prayer
I must have confessed all my sins at some point .
After some time the cops swooped in and brought everything under control yours truly was still afraid to come out but eventually I did and when I did come out, I checked my body for bullet holes and when none was found (please permit me) I “spralked"
combination of sprint and walk, reason is if I run they might think am a suspect and if I also walk they'll think am I also a suspect so I did both
The next morning my dad told me that there was an incident the previous night, that someone had been killed at the bar which is the same bar I was at that night, then he said
this is one of the reasons I don't like you going out at night
In my mind I was like
you don't know how correct you are dad
WHAT DID I LEARN FROM THAT NIGHT
- Life is fragile, one moment you're alive the next you're probable not
- When your parents say don't do this, believe me don't do it. Because it's for your own safety
- Life is more important a football match.
PS:am having issues sourcing images....I'll appreciate if any one can
You really should try being obedient, our Parents have reasons why they give rules..
Maybe because that is their own way of showing that they care..
Ever since then I've changed
Thank you
you welcome.
