Stuck in bed? 9 ways to pass the time! :)
So, today and half of yesterday has been a big bummer in the sense that my back decided to cramp up, leaving me somewhat bedbound for the past 24 hours..
The first few hours, I didn’t really have room for much more than feeling sorry for myself because of the pain, but then I became restless and tried to find ways of passing time.
I have to say, I am one of those people who hate being unable to work and I usually, (like some of you maybe?)Want to work the most when I really should take it easy and rest. Painting was the thing that messed up my back in the first place so I give myself a motherly talk and stay in bed.
Anyways, this made me think of things to do and after doing a few of them I thought, why not share them? Maybe more of you fellow Steemians are feeling under the weather for some reason and need some cozy and effortless distractions! :)
So here you go, my list of what to do when you’re ‘’kind of’’ stuck in bed!
1. Listen to audio books.
This is a great one! I’ve already passed the time with a couple of Paulo Coelho books and will for sure listen to a couple more. Listening to audio books is something I love to do in general, especially while painting and is a lovely way to pass time in my mind. So far I’ve been listening to audio books on youtube as I find the general quality to be quite good and it’s free. If you don’t find the book you’re looking for there are sites where you can pay a few dollars to get access to the ‘top notch’’ quality stuff, like on ITunes or http://www.audible.com/.
2. Read books.
If you don’t like other people reading books for you, read them yourself! ;)
3. Watch a movie.
One of the greatest benefits of today’s day and age is that most people have their own computer and a Netflix account. Me, being one of those people take full advantage in situations like these! I also have to applaud Netflix on growing their selection of awesome movies and series on a regular basis. Go Netflix! In my list at the moment awaits Okja, Crimson peak and Bates Motel among others.
4. Write / Read a steem article.
I constantly wish I had more time to set aside for reading more articles and also write them myself. There just is so much other daily stuff that needs to be done! One of the things I do try to write about if not every, then every other day is my art thou. It feels nice to have a place where I can share and also gather my thoughts and progress around my work. It feels nice thou to have the time to do something a bit different.
5. Order food!
Yes! In this moment I am waiting for a big sushi batch myself, and I can’t wait! Not having the energy to stand in the kitchen for hours is an awesome excuse to treat yourself with that nice food you’ve been thinking about, but never got because ‘’you could always throw something cheaper together’’. Some nice food helps your mood, gives you energy and always feels good. Another great thing about this day and age are the endless options for take away! Pizza, Thai, Chinese, Italian, traditional, whatever you want, most things are available.
6. Make yourself a cup of nice tea!
Nothing will lift my gloomy spirits like a nice cup of tea! It’s literally comfort in a cup.. It is super easy and quick to make, either yourself or for someone else to make for you. ;)
7. Make your environment cozy with some candles and incent.
If you’re stuck in more or less one place, at least try to make that place cozy! Having some candles glowing and nice smells flowing will for sure lift your mood and make any activity, like reading a book or watching a move more enjoyable.
8. Take a nap.
Take a nice long nap and don’t feel bad about sleeping your day away!
9. Call a friend.
Take the opportunity to call a friend you feel like you haven’t had the time to talk to in a while and catch up! Also, talking to good friends and people in our lives always makes us feel better. Of course, if you’re in a fog of fever or extreme pain, it might not be a good call.
So there you have my list! :)
If you have anything else to add that would be awesome!
Hope most of you are up and about doing your thing thou and having a nice Saturday! :)
so sorry about your back....and great list of things to do, I adore audio books! Heal well and I hope this time gives you something sweet despite its limitations
