THE HIDDEN BOLD STEPS

The goal of the Word and the Comfort of the Spirit is to help us mature in Christ. Maturity means becoming more like Jesus in thoughts, words and deeds. We know from our forebears in the faith that matters is possible, depending on how strong our desire for it is.

There is a particularly nice verse that I would like us to give a careful consideration to, and it is found in the Book of the Beginning, Genesis. Just a few insightful words. It says in Gen 5:24 "And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him". Enoch walked with God; and Enoch was no more. What do these things mean? Everyday we are headed somewhere, and very often we are headed there with someone. Sometimes, because we do not have a destination at heart, we jump on-board with just anybody taking steps towards a destination not meant for us. God, like every good parent has predetermined a course for each child He receives. It is a path to bring us to His expected end.

To walk with God is to walk away with Him. To follow His path and to leave ours behind. To walk with God is to turn one's back on the world and to undertake an exhilarating adventure into the unknown. To walk with God is to be headed in God's direction. Abraham could have lived his ordinary life, had it not been for the intervention of the Lord. The apostles of the Lord could have lived lives based on their occupations, had it not been that they walked away with Jesus. The Lord steps into lives and ordinary becomes extraordinary, mundane becomes ethereal. But this journey with God starts with a conscious decision to follow Him. Today, it does not matter how far we have strayed from our God given destination, we can make course corrections by a simple act of prayer.
