Rescued Mina birds

in #life6 years ago

These two Mina birds went down the chimney of our wood burning stove and got stuck in there. Since Mina birds mate for life- where one goes the other quickly follows. I think they were trying to build a nest in there. The opening to the vent is very small and narrow yet my daughter being so compassionate and loving didn't give up and found a way of grabbing the birds feet and wiggling them to freedom one at a time. They were covered with ash, and one had a tiny cut next to its beak but fortunately they were alright. They are lucky we didn't light the stove that night with them inside otherwise they would have been tiny little roasted Minas. Maybe they were checking out the terrain to report back to Santa. I am just glad to have them out of there. Now they get to fly free, together instead of being entombed forever in our stove.
