When you hear someone tell you they are "gonna" do something, you are being lied to.
Even when you say it, it is a lie.
Gonna is a lie we tell ourselves and others to make ourselves feel better about the bad situation we are in.
Gonna is the thing that you wish you could do, but fear stops you from doing.
I'm gonna ask my boss for a raise. Did you? Nope, Gonna got you.
I'm gonna start that business. Did you? Nope, Gonna got you.
I'm gonna ask that pretty girl out. Nope, Gonna got you.

There is only one weapon to use against Gonna, and that is Doing. Doing that thing you want to do kills Gonna before he has a chance to ruin your dreams. I just moved to South Carolina with less than a grand in my pocket and all my things in a storage unit in Colorado. Gonna had no chance. I just started the equivalent of my own business (Uber). Gonna had no chance. I have been reconsidering my move to SC because I didn't take the time to research what I recently found out were seriously draconian laws here. If I decide to move back to Colorado, or somewhere else, gonna won't get me. Gonna can't touch me because I made Doing kill Gonna a long time ago.

So, please, don't let Gonna live your life for you while you wonder what might have been. Ask that girl out, start that business. Live your life fearless and free. You will only regret what you didn't do because you let Gonna have his way.
