Snail Shells In The Garden: A Fascinating Part of Nature
I've lost track of how many snail shells I've found while gardening in my back yard. They are a beautiful part of the natural world and fascinating to learn about. It's amazing how they form such interesting designs and spirals.
Four Shells In My Garden: A Close Up
Baby snails are born with their shells but they are soft in the early stages of life. As baby snails eat calcium, it helps to harden the shell as it grows. Snails hatch from eggs and one of their first meals is the shell of their egg after they hatch. It's shell will grow as it grows. The center of the spiral is the part of the shell the snail was born with. The number of rings a snail shell has can be used to determine the age of the snail.
These shells were all very tiny. Each one was the size of my finger tip or smaller. I can easily go out in my yard and find shells everywhere. Since I live out in the woods, there is no shortage of snails. The shells are pretty and neat to find. It's amazing what beauty can be found in the natural world.
That is so cool I never knew those things about snails and the last time I saw a snail 🐌 was over twenty years ago! So so cool! I got up to go to the bathroom and had to look at my phone😂😂 goodnight!❤️
One of my favorite books is titled, "The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating." I fell in love with snails after reading this, so I certainly had to like your blog post too :)
