RE: ADSactly Personal - Steemit Icebreakers: What is the Strangest Job You Have Done?

in #life7 years ago

Don't you get too many ennemies with your first jobs? Especially when you had to break parties? It's not common but a very great deal for a free accomodation.
Unlike you I was naive back in the days. I was 20 years old, I decided to take a break from studies so I took a leisure year. I applied to work in restaurant/bars/clubs a year to discover this field and save money for travel.
I didn't have an enough developped instinct warning me when a job offer was quite unusual and might be not a 100% legal.
So when I had an interview in a "Champagne bar", the owner explained me it was not a whorehouse and I simply had to give company to customers by drinking with them and invite them to buy champagne (I had a comission on each bottle sold). They precised me that I had to dress elegant and then I was asked if it bothers me to drink during my shift. I told myself "paid for company, discussion and booze ? Where do I sign?"
I explain that to my mom who immediately asked me "Isn't it an escort bar?" I told her she was paranoid and that she saw bad things everywhere.
Well, it irrated me to say again "Well, mom was right". On my first day I noticed that my collegue let herself being touched on her ass... Well, I should have run at that moment but I came back the next day.
We had only one customer we drank with. When I saw him touching my colleague's breast and kissing her I realised (finally) what really was my job. I left them while she was seating and mouving on him and he has been spending 400€ euros in champagne for us (he drank beer). I came home feeling disgusted and resigned the next monday.
Now I know that no matter the income, my integrity worths more.
