Be Authentic

"I was a rebel nerd, then I became a metalhead, with chains hanging from my trousers. I changed again and started listening to electronic music. After that I went through a spiritual moment and now, I am who I am. I read some of your writing and I think you are rebel.”

That was the opinion of a potential future boss. I left the interview devastated and thought: 'what led him to think like that?'

I know I contest things, I have ups and downs, but none of that relates to rebellion. Some friends told me that it wasn't a problem about being rebel.

I try to find rebellion in myself and use it as a kind of therapy. Through this I believe I am authentic.

Synonyms for authentic - bona fide, genuine, real, true, undoubted, unquestionable.

Since I was little, I learned to be strong and honest with my choices. To me, the person who is afraid hide in a ‘robot job’ and wait quiet until retirement. The person who believes follows the dreams and let me be honest, it is very hard to make them come true. I am still working on it, everyday and night, even when I sleep.

This future (not wanted) boss judged me and lost the opportunity to know someone easy going, with good sense of humor and clever. I am just not good in Maths. :-)

Thinking about this story, I learned that it is important to leave frustrations behind and move on. I learned that bitterness leads nowhere and relearned that judgments are silly and frivolous. I am not a sheep and if my point of view bothers some people, maybe is because they are not strong enough to be who they want to be. Even worse, they might be afraid of what I am going to be.

If some people have been judged you and your dreams, don't worry, we are stronger and better than that! Carry on believing in yourself and later on, share with me your success. Will be delighted to applause your achievements!
