Some fats are vital to our body, so it is important to get to know the different species. In Healthy Recipes (Hermes Publishing), world-famous chef Gordon Ramsey lists the main types of fat and what we need to keep in mind when consuming them.

"I'm not a supporter of fat-free diets not only because I can not cook without olive oil and some butter, but also because the reasonable amounts of fat are actually good for the body," Gordon Ramsey writes. The idea is to minimize the use of bad fats and eat good fats. Here's what it's good to know:

Olive oil is considered to be good fat. Together with rapeseed oil, peanuts and avocado, it belongs to the group of monounsaturated fats that help reduce bad cholesterol levels and increase the levels of dorsium.

Other vegetable oils , such as sunflower, corn, soybean, walnut, or raffinate, are polyunsaturated. They are useful for the heart if consumed in moderate amounts. They also provide important fatty acids - omega-3 and omega-6 - that lower bad cholesterol levels.

Saturated fats are most common in products of animal origin, such as red meat, butter, lard, hard cheeses, cream and whole milk, as well as palm oil. They increase both good and bad cholesterol and should be taken in moderate amounts. To reduce the consumption of such fat, choose lean meat and cut excess fat before cooking. When cooking, use cream and butter sparingly and avoid slices of bread, oil-coated - the good home-made bread is delicious enough and without it.

Hydrogenated oils used in industrially prepared foods, baked goods, pastries and some margarines are called trans fats or trans fatty acids. They are extremely harmful because they increase the level of bad cholesterol and reduce the levels of the good. You should consume as little fat as possible.
