Good deeds are not always good

I have been growing in a circle of devoted religious family who keeps showing me that I should help people selflessly and erase the possibility them being evil and took advantage of us. They were too naive I'd say. However, I keep growing with the same mindset of helping people selflessly though sometimes they will fucked me over.

Sometimes I am being too naive when it comes to helping. I think it's the biggest flaw of mine. Often times, I would simply feel pity over someone who's not having enough money for going home or a little beggar on the street. It just, so many people approach and telling me their story . Oftentimes I feel pity over it so I'd help them in a way that I can eventhough I will always sacrifice something from my side.

Helping people do attract fake friends. I've also been growing up with fake friends who only befriended because I'd help them with homework, small treat or a little help during exam. I've stopped having fake friends when I went to college. I decided to alienate myself from the social circle and focus on my study instead.Now, I am more blessed to only have a small circle of friendship who's mutually beneficial.

Sometimes, I'd help a villain succeeding their plans. I only feel guilty when I see the result as I feel I contributed in that. But why would I over analyze only to help doing a little thing? this battle often runs inside my head. Overtime, I realize that good deeds are not always good. And I would need to do background check especially when it comes about an Individual which my circle knows.
