There might be times when rivalry is proper, however life isn't one of them.

Rivalry = competition.

Life for every organism on the planet,from the primordial soup to software designers in silicon valley...is a constant state of competition.

Perpetual end unending.

The trick is being comfortable within this paradigm (generally by finding your own niche, to feel relaxed within it).

....the quicker we can begin cooperating to make sense of it....

Cooperation is mutually beneficial exchange to both parties, who both see advantage to the relationship...

It is not a higher ideal, or altruism.

...just sayin'....
