Science Behind Our Miracle Baby

In year 2010 one news was ruling the web a newborn infant who was declared dead came back to life just because of his mother's smartness. 

When the baby was born we had no activity. Hence,the doctors checked out his heart beat which was not there and declared that he was born dead. 

When Kate and David Ogg were told their newborn son Jamie had passed away on March 25, 2010, they took him in their arms and cradled him to keep him warm

The mother was heart broken and requested the hospital staff to hug her baby once and bid him good bye. Everyone was sad and accepted the fact but kate ( mother) had some hope. She had read about kangaroo care and tried it. 

In kangaroo care the baby is kept close to mother heart beat with skin-to-skin contact. So, that he feels secure and get enough warmth to maintain his body temperature. Kangaroo care is also used for treating premature babies and babies who suffers from hypothermia (inability to regulate body temperature).

In 1972 this term Kangaroo Care was coined by Mr. Gene Cranston Anderson. The most important thing to care is the infant should be upright on the chest, and the airway secured with safe technique. 

Kate felt a movement and told doctors that the baby is moving . He is alive but the doctors refused and said it might be reflex action and Kate requested them to stay for two more minutes with the baby. Which got stretched into two hours.

And the best thing happened the baby opened his eyes the parents thought that they are so lucky to see his eyes .He kept his eyes opened for a while . Kate again requested doctors but they said its an reflex action nothing more than that. 

The main aim of Kangaroo care is breastfeeding . Kate took a small amount of her milk from her finger tip and the baby accepted it. They believed that he was alive and told doctor to check his heart beat. As soon as doctor checked it. He was in utter shock that he can't believe it.

Kangaroo Care helps to achieve right weight gain and prevent baby from infections it is consider better than incubator.Research suggests that for all mammals, the maternal environment is the primary requirement for regulation of all physiological needs (homeostasis).

 The baby had a normal heart beat and started crying when the mother can easily feed the baby and there is no other complications they are discharged.

Maternal absence leads to dysregulation and adaptation to adversity that's why KMC should be started with minutes of birth to avoid the harmful effects of separation (Bergman Curationis).

Things to be taken care of :-

1. Initiation of KMC should be started within minutes or very few hours after birth the ideal is zero separation.

2. Daily Dose should be 22-23 hours per day. 

3.Mother is considered best because only she can breastfeed but father and other family members can do it too.No hospital staff is recommended because it need emotional bonding. 

4.Duration till the infant refuses himself.

The main thing we should learn that Kate's presence of mind saved her baby. If she had not tried it there baby must not be alive today.So,educate yourself and others and always keep hope.
