I love the idea of doing this with pumpkins that were used as decorations instead of throwing them away! My wife and I took ours to her parents for them to feed to their pigs, but next year we might try doing this instead! Is there a certain type of pumpkin that you like to buy to use for decorations/cooking?
I got all my pumpkins for free this year so I didn't pick any particular varieties. I think almost all pumpkins are good for it. I definitely preferred the taste of the "Long Island Cheese" pumpkins but I think it could be based on personal preference.
