A Christmas Prayer for the Broken Families in Indonesia steemCreated with Sketch.

Would you believe in fate?

That if your time is not up, it is not up?

About 3 weeks ago I helped my office cleaner to get the tickets for her and her Malaysian husband to visit her frailling mother back in Jakarta for a week.

She has not been back for 7 years and her sister told her that her mom was very ill.

So off she went to see her mom who was relocated to her sister's house in Jakarta on 15 December, and this morning I saw her clean the stairs and greeted her to know if everything was all right.

Do you believe it?

While she was in Indonesia she decided to charter a car all the way back to her hometown with her husband just to see the old house that is now abandoned where she was born and grew up.

She met her village friends and relatives, took pictures, had her long missed local food there before waving good bye, not realising that this could be the last time she sees her friends and relatives there.

Not to mention her ancestors house.

With still a disbelieved feeling, she told me that she flew back to Malaysia on Saturday, with fond memories of her old home, only to wake up seeing the news that her house was destroyed by the tsunami.

Her home was in the west of Sunda's straits.

The only thanks giving she can feel right now is that all her immediate family members moved to settle in Jakarta several years ago; but the fate of her childhood friends remained in limbo.

She has been one of the kindest and most generous person I've ever encountered in my life and I'm just grateful that God watched over her and her family members during this disaster strike.

So now if you read this post of mine please do keep the people along the coast of Java and Sumatera including West Jakarta in thoughts and prayers.

Especially no more after shock and ripple tsunamis.

No one can explain why this has happened to them, but now all we can do is to pray and hope that the death toll will not continue to rise.

In this sad news she could still take time to wrap gifts for the whole office with her souvenirs from her hometown.

This is how strong she is.

Below is the link of the Malaysian local news about the tsunami and the 🌋 incident.

You don't know if you should be grateful for the opportunity to visit your ancestoral home or sad not knowing the fate of friends and family.

Hope you have a great christmas!
