RE: How to get rid of excessive thinking and what are its side effects
The best way I have found to stop the thinking process and get out of your 'worry loops' is this:
When you feel that you are thinking too much, refocus on the feelings in your body and your emotions. When you concentrate on that you are NOT thinking anymore! The only thoughts that are ok are things like: where is this feeling in my body? does it want to go somewhere? does it have a color? a texture?
When doing this, you break all thought-loops. The other positive effect is that you actually start healing from 'negative' feelings and old traumas. Every 'negative' feeling is held in your body by your thoughts. The thoughts are the anchor for these feelings. So when the anchor disappears (ie thinking stops), the feeling can be released. This may take 5 seconds or it may take half an our of focusing on that particular feeling, but suddenly you will notice that the feeling diminishes and disappears! In some instances your whole body may vibrate when this happens.
If you do this 15-30 min every day, you will release so many 'negative' feelings that as a result you will feel more whole, more alive, have more joy, more energy.
And by doing this regularly, you learn to stop your thoughts and only use thinking when you need it, with periods in between where you are not thinking! This also enhances your intuition.
Hope this helps a few people out there!
PS. I say 'negative' in quotes because I don't think they ARE negative. They are just your body giving you a signal
