Winter Olympics - Cardboard sledding

in #life6 years ago

Hi Steem family,

Just got back from a very cold but excellent winter glamp out with my daughter. I may have mentioned in a previous post that we joined the Indian Princesses last year which is kind of like the Girl Scouts but it's the dads doing fun and exciting things with our daughters. Part of the program is that we go on 3 glamp outs a year (Fall, Winter and Spring) and this past weekend was the Winter one in Lake Geneva Wisconsin. The theme was the Winter Olympics. Aside from the usual fun glamping activities one would expect we had Olympic style competitions. There was Archery, Curling, Capture the Flag on individual sleds but lastly the main event, the cardboard sled luge where the dads and daughters not only make their own sleds but run them down a hill. They were scored on longest run and fastest time down the hill. The pic you see was the overall winner. It was awesome! Though me and my daughter didn't win any of the sled medals, we clinched the Gold in Archery and she got Silver in curling. Overall, it's a ton of fun to fit into a weekend and no one ever goes hungry as the dads do up dinner right with the emphasis on MEAT! MMMM. I'm very lucky to have been invited into this organization not only for the friendships I've made with the other dads but most importantly connecting with my daughter. It really is priceless.
