Legacy Spawns This Weird, Hurry Up And Die, Mentality. Why?

Why would anyone care to make their mark on history if they cannot be there to see it.
If legacy is what you are looking for have lots of children and teach them to be decent thinking people.
If you do succeed in making your mark, what is that?
What is the longest lived knowledge humanity has of any person?
It looks like Narmer a proto-dynastic Egyptian pharaoh at 5,100 years, unless you believe the Sumerian 8 kings that ruled for 241,200 years.
Personally, I don't see why not, though it is probably a mistranslation of Sumerian or a misrecording in the first place.
The Sumerians did use a base 60 numbering system.
So, just for fun, let's say, that the Sumerian Antediluvian king list, and our translation of it is accurate.
That would make (In) Eridu(g) A-lulim(ak) the oldest known human name, assuming anyone who lives over 29,000 years, 245,200 years ago is human, I'm not so sure we are in the realm of safe assumption.
In the face of the great volume of time of the existence of the universe, this is not even a noticeable piece of a blip.
That's 245,200 years ago as compared with, how old is the universe thought to be now?
Between 11 and 18 billion years, with a common estimate of 13.8 billion years.
Okay, so that's 245,200 vs 13,772,000,000.
If accurate, the Antediluvian kings have my utmost respect, as if they needed it.
I hope to make it to 35,000.
I'm not joking in the least.
Sorry, Neil Young and Albert Camus,
I'd rather fade away over the course of 35,000 years and leave not a mark,
than burn out in less than 100.
Fools.
If I am successful, by the time I die your legacies will be dust of dust of dust.

So, screw the death worshiping, legacy chasers.
I intend to outlive humanity's memories of you.
