Tour not only have to take a leisurely stroll on the coast or swim up the mountain. Sometimes the traveler also needs to feel the pleasure of exploring the historic location with important cultural heritage. If it happens to be in North Sumatra, it can be done in Lingga Village.

Lingga Village is part of Karo Regency. The distance is approximately 15 kilometers from Brastagi. Friend traveler can achieve it via public or private vehicle.

Traces of Karo Cultural Heritage

Lingga village stands about 1,200 meters above sea level. Hawanya pretty cool, will not make my friend easy to get tired. Plus the scenery around the village is enough to spoil the eye.

Some of the traditional houses here are treated so well through the cooperation of the government and local area managers. Tourists can still enjoy the beautiful original architecture of Batak Karo house until now. According to some sources, traditional houses in the Lingga area actually there are quite a lot but not a little destroyed because local residents lack of funding for improvement.

Contains Philosophical Meaning

The traditional house of Batak Karo in Lingga village is estimated to be over 250 years old. The remaining buildings are still firmly established today thanks to the aid of World Monument Fund funds, an International institution that focuses on the preservation of cultural sites. Around the Lingga area is now also designated as a Cultural Village.

Like most traditional houses in Indonesia, the traditional house in Lingga village also has a philosophical meaning. For example, the House of Waluh Jabu, which has two small doors. Every incoming guest is required to look down as a tribute to homeowners.

Almost every custom house Karo has a decoration of horns or buffalo head on the roof. According to local residents, these accessories are useful to resist reinforcements. This horn ornament is usually placed on top of the let-go, bamboo-shaped woven triangle.

Remembering the Glory of Kings

Not far from the village of Lingga is Uruk, the name for the tomb of kings who had ruled this region more than a century ago. Buddy traveler who wants to visit here must prepare extra energy. The journey covers a distance of about 1.5 kilometers and the location of the tomb is on the top of the hill.

Once there, the travelers will be greeted a monument coated with white ceramics. The monument is a marker of Uruk location. According to some information circulating, this is where the bodies of the kings of the past are buried. One of them is the Raja of Lingga Village named Kelelong Sinulingga ruled between 1934-1947.

Pervade the Life of Local Communities

In addition to admiring the cultural heritage and history of Lingga Village, my friend can also try to permeate the syahdunya life of the local people. From the top of the hill, the travelers will be presented with a panorama of nature is so charming. On the way down, make time to stop by the vegetable garden and interact with people there.

Villagers around Linga Village often use Gereta Lembu aka carts that are moved by cows, to go to the fields. Visitors can try to ride this unique vehicle if you want to feel the sensation of a different holiday.
