Traditional Catching Fish by Throwing Net

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Some time ago I visited my uncle's house which is located in Takengon, Aceh.My uncle was a coffee farmer usually early in the morning he went to the coffe farm to take care of the coffee trees until noon.
When he came home from the garden he invited me to go catch fish by trhowing fishing nets in the river, trhowing fishing nets is a daily habit of Takengon people near the edge of Lake Laut Tawar located in Takengon. Then I and Uncle got to a great place to trhowing fishing nets.
This is the river where we will start fishing, in fact this river is the river flow from Lake Laut Tawar. Lake Laut Tawar is a famous lake in Aceh. In this river there are various kinds of freshwater fish such as Mujair (Tilapia), carp (Cyprinus carpio) and many other freshwater fish species.

My uncle has prepared a net that will be used to catch fish, this net that has been given a weight such as lead or iron so that when the net is thrown will soon sink quickly so the fish can not escape. After preparing the nets he observes the movement of fish that are inside Water.

When the fish had entered within the throwing range of the net / net, my uncle immediately threw the net immediately.

The net has been thrown

When it has been thrown and drowned then the net is pulled slowly so that the net does not tear or break the garbage or sharp objects that are in the water

We were lucky in one throw we have got some fish mujair (tilapia)

After spending about 1 hour to catch my uncle decided to go home because the day had started to rain, Not bad ! today we got dozen mujair fish . This is enough for uncle to take home and serve as a side dish for today.

Experience catching fishb by trhowing net with my uncle in the river. This is a good experience to watch traditional fishing. Hopefully useful: D

Very nice atmosphere and the reflection on the water is really beautiful! Good luck you got a lot of fish! Your traditional fishing and the fishing net you use are the same as in Thailand! That's great! ;)

thank you :D that true i think this net is same use in asian

You're welcome! Yeah! We live in the same region and have similar culture as well! ;)

That must be awesome.
