Draining the Swamp - FIFA Edition

in #life6 years ago

The FIFA is known for two things: football (or soccer for you "Americans") and corruption.

But do not worry! Corruption in the FIFA has officially ended!

And it was quite easy: They just deleted the word corruption from their code of ethics. Bribery is still forbidden, but now can no longer be prosecuted after 10 years. Since most FIFA bosses keep themselves on top for quite a long time, this might mean that they can brag about their corruption while still in office.

Bribery, misappropriation of funds and manipulation of football matches or competitions may no longer be prosecuted after a lapse of 10 years.

But of course no FIFA official is corrupt or accepts bribes, so they needed a new punishable offense:

"Persons bound by this code are forbidden from making any public statements of a defamatory nature towards FIFA and/or towards any other person bound by this code in the context of FIFA events," section 22.2 of the new code states.

Saying that someone took bribes is, of course, defamatory, even if you have it on video.
