Japanese Food - OBON DE GOHAN - Restaurant Evaluation (4)
We were very hungry and decided to eat in this restaurant last weekend. Their menu looked very delicious and offered vast variety of healthy looking dishes ... but at the end, eating in this restaurant was somewhat disappointing.
Name: Obon de Gohan
Location: Yokohama, "Mark Is" shopping center.
Restaurant's Looks and Feels: clean, relaxing, nice green :)
Seating Choice: table & chairs, table & benches
Menu:
Freshness & Taste: Main plate (my fish) and rice bowl was a bit too salty for my taste. Ordered food came in 12 minutes, which was very fast. It makes me think, they precook the most popular dishes(?). Otherwise, it would probably take about 30 minutes to bring the food to the table. Both the fish and the hamburger (minced beef) were overcooked (dry & hard). Sauces weren't that flavorful and vegetable rich as has shown on the menu,.. more salt than flavor.
Rice and soup were offered as "tabehodai", which means that you can get a refill if you want to eat more of both.
Other dishes were tofu, salad, pickles and potato salad.
I ordered "Macha Latte" green tea milk.
Special Point: Don't know about any for this particular restaurant.
Staff: busy, very reserved, close to inattentive though polite
Price: average
Note: Iced water was served on the table. A child menu set is available (no gift offered). Total cost 3,500 yen or more for three people.
Score (From 1 to 10 where 10 is the best.): I'll give it 4.5
