My 30 days experiment on Steemit. Results of the first 3 days

in #life9 years ago (edited)

What I want to say is that results surprise me, I have mixed feelings from the first days. Joy, shock, surprise and disappointment, everything got mixed up. The most surprising thing for me was that my articles in Russian get more than the ones in English. I haven't realized yet myself who votes for them and why. So, let's find it out together.

My English is not good, I write an article in Russian, and after that I send it to a translator. After I have posted my first article, in one of the chats I've been asked to give more details, how much I paid the translators, editors, what other costs I had. People also asked me about other difficulties I faced during the experiment. I will tell you about it in this post.

Let me start explaining things one after another. I have articles in both languages, so, of course, I decided to post both variants. I saw other people posting bilingual articles, but I find this option more suitable for articles with little text and many pages. As for my articles, they have a lot of text and I think it's more comfortable to read them when they are written separately in each language. It's very interesting to know what you think about it. Let discuss it in the comments.

I never wrote in such a high pace - one article per day. And, honestly, I don't know, if I cope with it. To put myself in conditions, where I have to work in a high pace, was one of the reasons to start this experiment. Yesterday I almost failed my schedule. I finished the article only by the evening, and it also needed to be translated. But I was lucky, @xanoxt came to rescue me. Due to our time difference, he finished translating at 5 am only, and I am very thankful for that.

3 days - 3 articles, the results are the following:

Article Payout SD SP
Is it possible to make money on Steemit? 30 Days Steemit Experiment [EN] $57.92 26.699 33.097
Is it possible to make money on Steemit? 30 Days Steemit Experiment [RU] $41.23 18.162 22.637

Now let's talk about things that are most interesting for me personally. Who are those people who vote for me?

From the 1 article on EN - $57.92

From the 1 article on RU - $41.23

From the 2 article on EN - $55.47

From the 2 article on RU - $80.91

From the 3 article on EN - $7.78

From the 3 article on RU - $22.49

What conclusions can be made from it?

Obviously, the same accounts @wang, @steemit200, @au1nethyb1, @badassmother, @rossco99 have been voting for me for these 3 days. It's cool and shitty at the same time. It's cool, because it gives visibility to my posts, and other people can notice me, also I can earn a bit and, at least, pay off my costs on a translator.

Of course, I appreciate what these users did for me. I really want to know who these people are. Do they speak Russian? Do they read my articles or just use some kind of a smart algorithm, part of which I became, in voting?

Dear whales, if you are real and you are reading my articles at the moment, I would like to get to know you. If it's possible, please let me now in the comments, who you are and why you support my posts. Or you can privately text me on steemit.chat.

This uncertainty freaks me out. If the main income from my posts is made by my regular readers who really care what I write about, it gives me confidence and stability. If it's all about the algorithms, well… the algorithms may change at any moment.

Comments

My posts in Russian are also commented more often. It seems to me that even my posts in English have more comments from the Russian guys))) I think it's because I am quite active in Russian chats and I mostly leave comments on the Russian-speaking segment of Steemit. I am much obliged to everyone for the support and feedback.

Expenses

Once again I'd like to quote the questions from @primus, "How much did you pay the translators and editors? What other costs did you have?" People also asked me about other difficulties I faced during the experiment.

I have the two types of expenses - time and payments to translators. I am not a professional writer, I write the articles on my own and don't have any editors. I have two friends, they also write on Steemit, we exchange the articles with each other before translating and posting. It helps to get the first feedback and correct some details. I have already told you that I spend a lot of time on an article, so don't get surprised by the numbers.

I am an idiot! Cashing on Steemit. Is it the most Important? 5 hours $11,70

To promote my first two articles I spent 20 dollars on each one. It didn't bring any results in my case. I guess it's too early to calculate the profit right now, I will give you more details after 7 days of posting.

As for difficulties, the first one I had was finding a translator who would do his job well and quickly. Good professionals are often busy for days ahead, so you need to have several people to work with. For all the time I have worked with 6 people, I order regularly from two of them.

I suppose, the main difficulty, not only for me, but for the most of Steemit users, is to make your article noticeable.

Conclusions

In general, I am happy about the results of the first 3 days. I get upvoted regularly by the small whales, but I do realize that everything may change, maybe after posting this article and such statistics.

Sort:

Very interesting information. Thank you for these conclusions. There's nothing like specific documented information to learn from.

Я не знаю английского, но с удовольствием читаю такие статьи. Один щелчок в браузере Гугл-Хром и все слова переведены. Криво конечно, но главное смысл понятен ;)

Wang is a curator bot.
I dunno about the other ones but it seems that they might be too.

Keep posting.
It's likely that everything I know about Russia is wrong. I welcome the opportunity to learn.

Thanks for the comment. What would you like to know about Russia?

No idea.
From reading your comments I get the idea that a LOT of what I think I know about Russia ain't so.
Keep writing.
