Haw Par Villa, bizarre theme park in Singapore

Haw Par Villa, originally known as Tiger Balm Gardens, is a Chinese mythological theme park in Singapore, and has become known as the home of some of the most amazing and bizarre sculptures. The park contains more than 1000 statues and 150 giant dioramas depicting scenes from Chinese folklore, legends, histories, and illustrations of various aspects of Confucianism.

From a scribble to a woman who succumbs to everything, to the scene of murder, human beings and rats talking on the phone - this place has it all.

The park was built by two brothers in 1937, Aw Boob Haw and Aw Boon Par, with the aim to celebrate Chinese culture. Later they sold the park to the Singapore Tourist Resort, which then renamed the park at Haw Par Villa ("The World of the Dragon").

Today, Haw Par Villa is mostly empty, and rare visitors have the opportunity to 'enjoy' in a very unusual and bizarre scene. Who needs Disneyland yet?
