Famous characters from Books

Which famous characters from the numerous books you read can you readily remember? Daily I remember Shylock from William Shakespeare's play - The Merchant of Venice, because of Joe - a colleague at work.

I remember Constance Neville in She Stoops to Conquer , each time I hear the tales of the underprivileged folks in my society. Even more, when I see them toil so hard to make life meaningful. I am encouraged when out of the blue nature throws up help for them.
