RE: When Time meets Opportunity, Magic Happens!

in #life8 years ago (edited)

Opprtunity is not equal. Society is massively unfair.
Tell homeless children on the streets of Rio that they just need to find the opportunities. That is just a major insult.

And I can succeed, even if my opportunities in life have not been the best. But that is me as an individual. I can succeed despite being a poor working class guy, without connections and resources. DESPITE those things.

If I had money,I could buy a music studio,a maid, and a personal assistant, and a caretaker of my child. That is what rich people do. It frees up their time and energy. So they can realise their potential.
You need a certain amount of resources to even get off the ground, which experiments with a Univeral Basic Income has shown,as well as cash tranfers.
People show remarkable resourcefulness and willingness to work, when they are not caught in a poverty trap, too exhausted just keeping their head above water.

Poor people don´t lack initative, intelligence or resourcefulness. They lack cash.

Sort:

Or the overall abundance needed to make critical descisions like "where will i sleep tonight?"
