Understanding Ambition and Obsession

The terms ambition and obsession are often interpreted the same, but both are different things. Despite having the basic psychical equation of desire, one's will. Similar but not the same.

What Is Ambition and Obsession?

Understanding Ambition is a desire (desire, lust) is strong to achieve a certain direction or purpose such as success, or power. A great desire of a person who is trying to achieve success in his life, or trying to achieve great things, both in accordance with what he wants is an Ambition.

Understanding Obsession is the desire (passion, lust) of something accompanied by effort, even impressed force to achieve that desire. Obsession is a desire accompanied by an uncontrollable or excessive emotional action, and no reason to realize his wish. It could be someone who has an Ambition but it can cause a sense of distress and anxiety is called Obsession.

Differences Ambition and Obsession

Although both in the form of desires, ideas, thoughts, images and emotions of the product of the mind. But it has a conflicting difference that Ambition is more positive, whereas Obsession leads to unhealthy negative traits and should be avoided.

People often interpret ambition with negative things, or more often used in describing the greed of someone who has a strong desire to pursue fame, power or achievement of a particular business. Whereas human beings as living beings must have the ambition to change a better life again.

If someone has a desire, or has a plan, then focusing the energy and mind to realize the desire is to have an ambition. However, if the desire has so dominated the mind uncontrollably, for no reason and chasing blindly with overflowing emotions means that the person already has an obsession.

People who have ambitions when they do not get the goal of a desire, they will try to get the goal in another way, or make another goal. In contrast to obsessed people, if they can not reach the goal they set, the tendency for depression will be greater.

Thus, one must have ambition without having to use obsession (to be obsessive) so as not to show the dark side of the psychopath that is inside of him. It's okay to have ambition, but do not be obsessed or ambitious without obsessing.
