In 2016, Arya Permana, a child from a village on the Indonesian island of Java, could not sit or walk without the assistance of other people because he weighed about 200 kilos. At age 10, he was sadly defined as "the most obese child in the world".
"He only ate and slept," his parents told the British newspaper The Sun, and said they "exhausted all their savings" in "feeding" him.
But finally, in April 2017, the parents decided to take extreme measures because they could no longer see their son suffering. The little Indonesian was put on a strict diet limited in sugar and carbohydrates and went through a gastric band surgery.
