Big QUESTION: Who can be role model of your children?
As parents we all prefer our children adopts some good qualities in their life, such as caring for others, always believe in truth, stay away from bad habits and many more. These qualities do not come by itself their life.
Like we follow our role model and we want to be like them and for children, they see parents as their Superhero. Their brain is in development stage so whatever they see at home, they adopt in their life. Therefore whatever good qualities you want in your child then first you have to adopt and perform those qualities regularly in your house.
Most of us believe that the first school of children is their own home and first teachers are their own parents and guardians. Even though you may not teaching them like teachers teach them in their classroom. But kids from very young age, they observe each step and they learn several things from us each day. If you always speak truth and take care about others in your house then there are good chances that your children will walk on the same footstep in their life.
As parents, we should always keep in mind that you should not implement any rules on your child forcefully; it may hurt their moral and confidence. The good way to convince your child is to be their friend. So they can share their questions and worries with you without any fear. The better way to prevent them from bad habits and make them milled to good habits by talking and explaining them consequences of those habits.

Great tips @kidsrhymes Encouraging children to ask questions and express how they feel are important. Being understanding and patient in explaining things to them are of great value too.
As a father I do understand how much reponsibility we have to give good education and make them a good human being in life to get success. Recently I have observed that now days children are more advanced and they can learn by their own like my 1.8 year of son learned abc from YouTube (not perfectly) to some extent. In this case he took YouTube as his role model and I supported him to go further and learned from it. Same way let children select them their role model if it good for him do support if not pull it back totally. Tried to explain same thing with small but real Life example.
