I love this post right now seeing as I am in the middle of re-watching all the Star Wars movies. The dark side is indeed a powerful force and can be used to advance your position in life, but too much of it and humanity starts to dwindle away. Use of the dark side is very useful against your enemies but as you mentioned must be kept in check, or alienation and suspicion will arise in those around you.
