Writing Has Opened Up A New Opportunity..
Earlier today I received a call from a private investment group to meet up for dinner and talk about digital assets like cryptocurrencies. A friend recommended me, somehow. It seems like bespoke investors are beginning to earmark a small portion of whatever they do for magic internet money. Now, I've tried plenty of gigs before, but I've never managed anyone else's funds, other than a stash of ethers for some friends back in 2016.. so I was left wondering - what the eth makes me qualified for the task?
The answer that I got was:-
"Looking at your writings, you seem to know your shit."
Admittedly, I felt a surge of pride hearing that compliment. Strands of ramen noodles almost slipped out of my nose. After all, my rebrand as The New World Blogger is to share all sorts ideas, stories, lifestyle-pieces, and entertaining, balanced opinions about the new world economy. But this has nothing to do with professional fund management! I like the freedom of writing and contributing whatever the eth I want without anyone telling me what to do.. that's all.
"Don't worry, we wouldn't stupidly allow you to play with the funds yourself. Just do whatever you've been doing researching on those blockchain stuff worth looking into. You'd still need to convince us with the pros and cons of anything before the money goes there."
Thanks Steemit. You've been taking good care of this nutcase since last year, and now I find myself contemplating a new freelance-y gig on new frontiers. That way I can even begin supporting blockchain projects a little more substantially. I couldn't ask for more. Anyway, do you think it's a good idea to take up the offer? It's definitely tempting for both the rewards and learning experience, but I don't think it's going to be funny when it comes to losing money for others. Could use your perspective on this matter.

When a great opportunity shows itself; Why not grab it with both hands? Sometimes you have to jump into the unknown. They seem to tell you keep doing what you do. So that is easy. If you feel you are not fit for the job; Make a deal with them. For instance: your first couple of advises are played only on paper; Or with small-ish money; IF that makes you feel better. You mentioned: Fund Management. Is this long term investments, mid term, or short term?
I can tell you in last 4 years I jumped 2 times on something that just appeared to me. Both I took and both where life changing. It was not always easy for me in the last years, but I'm more happy then before. I left a life with a lot of knowns and securities and am in a life now with much less securities and much less knowns, but it became so much more diversified and fun.
More mid to long term. Thanks for the advice. Most likely will take it up since I do manage my own afterall.. its just a weird position / intersection of things imo
Change 'most likely' into 'I will'. Don't sell yourself cheap though! :)
I wouldn't do it, but I am not you, so… I think, however, this: aware investors know the risk, so they know that people working behind the curtains are humans, not gods, so they know something could go wrong. This is why maybe you shouldn't worry about losing money for others, provided that everyone is aware about the “game”.
Also, the readers. And your right, its difficult to do this assuming others are getting into it without knowing what game theyre getting into. The reasons for disclaimers in finance related articles werent clear to me until i started writing last year. And writing here is intrinsicallt tied to money matters too so its a bit of a weird position!
If anyone knows about shit, it is my boss. Do you know how bad that wrinkled skin smells?

Holy shit! That was golden opportunity! I assume the investment firm is based in Malaysia? It's a golden opportunity being an advisor for some shit you know. I'd say give advise you're comfortable with tho. Crypto is a fickle beast you know more than anyone.
I missed on a couple of moonshots, so I definitely dont know more than anyone lol.. but I guess it's just hard to keep track of it all. Hopefully there'll be a thriving cryptoanalyst community around here when the times comes :)
Talking about Malaysia I guess the current mindset people have is still "Bitcoin magic forex money scam". But really hopeful that that'll change soon.

Thanks @rubenalexander . I just find it kinda funny that anyone would consider me for the task since I make it a point not to write stuff too seriously around here. But i guess my attempts to make stuff not-serious ended up making it somewhat serious..
I suppose this is at the heart of #internetlogic : You try to do one thing on the web and the opposite happens.
