DTube Exclusive: A Chinese Breakfast! | "Steemed" Buns + More!
Hello Steem Blockchain!
Today, I am going to show you what a Chinese breakfast might look like. I decided to go to a small, family-owned establishment to get some bao zi, which means "steamed buns." I usually go to this spot on days I don't feel like cooking breakfast, but I went here today so I can show you guys what a typical Chinese breakfast might look like.
The name of this restaurant is 祁家包子 (Qi Jia Bao Zi). "Qi" is the surname of this family and "Jia" means house or family.
I ordered 3 things:
- 5 Steamed Beef Buns
- Millet Porridge (Xiao Mi Zhou)
- 1 Hard Boiled Egg
The millet porridge is quite bland. It is similar in appearance to quinoa. Some people put sugar in it to give it a sweetness but I prefer to just eat it as it is. It is really healthy and good for digestion. Many pregnant mothers and ill people will consume millet porridge regularly to help aid them.
The beef bao zi were delicious (as usual). Juicy minced beef on the inside and most people dip the bun in vinegar to give the bun some extra flavour. I prefer to eat it this way as well.
The hard boiled egg tasted like any hard boiled egg lol. Not much to say about that.
Hope you enjoy this DTube exclusive video!

Oh My #$&K @kenanqhd. You are living the life!! Real Chinese people and you speech real Chinese. I'm blown away..
Wow thank you! I really do appreciate the comment. I've been here for over 3 years and feel proud that I learned some of the language. Hope to be fluent soon.
You don't even have a hint of struggle. If I had a bag over my head I would have thought you were Chinese. I'm inspired, because it makes me feel like we're one big family..
=)
I think learning the language of whatever country you are in is great for breaking down barriers. It helps to show that we can connect with each other, regardless of nationality. I know a few South African people (and other African countries) that live here and love it.
Wow!!!!! Yeah one of my friends have been living there for a long time now and it's helped him stay off weed and drugs. This is so refreshing @kenanqhd..
Haha, "Steemed" Buns... very creative! Cool video. I like your "magic" of switching clothes and places... ;) Have you also tried other star food for breakfast, like 油条,豆浆,馄饨,面条,饭团,煎饼,烧卖......?
Thanks @itchyfeetdonica. As a matter of fact, I have tried all of those except for 烧卖. Out of all of those you mentioned, I like 煎饼 the most lol.
Me too! Because it's more tasty than some others and easier to carry than the tasty noodles and wantons! I enjoy eating it on my way after buying it from a street stand - it's like heaven in a cold morning!!! =)
Very filling and it only costs about 5 RMB. You can find them everywhere.
Kenan using the "instant transmission" technique, lol.
Anyways, that's awesome stuff. That's what I also normally have for breakfast here with some yóutiáo and dòujiāng included. I'll feel strange not starting the day without it now. Also those tea eggs are a nice added taste to just having regular boiled eggs.
Lol, you bet! Gotta improve one way or another.
Youtiao is pretty good with doujiang, but I don't like having an oily breakfast too often. I usually just eat oatmeal or xiaomi zhou.
