TIPS To Starting Your Own Business
Starting your own business has so many variables it can be so hard to keep track of them all. When I started my businesses. There was so much I had to learn and fast because I overlooked so many necessary steps! Starting a business is hard! Especially for people who tend to be less decisive. I was amazed by how many decisions I had to make quickly. I didn't even have a chance to dip my feet in. I was pushed head first!
But hey, That's how you learn right?
Be careful With Money.
Do you want to take out a loan or fund it yourself? A loan will give you more leverage to decide on the "fancy" stuff. But can you get by without it? I always avoid loans! I was able to start my business without one. Instead, I had some major cutbacks as far as marketing, supplies, and people that I hired. I also kept my job to help fund my business. Which helped A TON! As I gradually made more money, I'd use that money for software, Freelance work, Or other services to help build up my portfolio of stuff.
Also by using someone else's money whether you raise it, Or take out a loan. You have to answer to those people to a certain degree. Plus spending other peoples money can get addictive, and you may not think through your purchasing decisions as much.
Start a Business, Not A Start Up!
Start ups aren't businesses yet. The postpone whats inevitable.
It's a hobby Until it has a path to profit!
cough Synereo Cough cough.
Sometimes it's better to release your product, somewhat Imperfect and let your customers/community help improve it.
Like Steemit! Steemit has never been perfect, But this community has a little leverage on where it goes next. It's an amazing thing. When you sit and wait around to get your business going, You and your customers, Employees Lose Steam.
Now that I'm so used to writing Steem. The word Steam Looks spelled wrong LOL
Focus on Less Mass
So many people make the mistake of hiring a bunch of people. And trying to get this huge business going. When they have no experience. Don't be afraid to be that small business...
Small businesses give you...
- Flexibility
- Power to make quick decisions.
- It's cheaper to run
### What Is mass increased by? ###
- Long Term Contracts
- Excess Staff
- Permanent decisions
- Meetings
- Inventory, Physical or mental.
Avoid these things as you start to establish your business. Once it becomes more established. Start to add things as needed.
Go Crazy with ideas!
Sometimes I like to have brainstorming sessions, Where I "puke" Out a massive amount of ideas.
Set a timer to grab some paper and write whatever comes your head.
Remember when you did stuff like that in elementary school? You should still be doing that! It's so helpful. I couldn't survive without it.
It doesn't matter if the ideas are good or bad, Just write them down and fast!
Don't be too detailed
Sometimes companies start with too much detail. If you were around months ago Before Steemit made changes. You would have seen how much simpler the website was. If they focused on too much detail early on, They would have taken so much longer to come out. Plus it would require more work.
It's like the food company Freshly
Some people complained that they don't have any paleo or Vegetarian options. But as a new company, Focusing on that immediately would be difficult.
So instead they came out with whats easiest for them, And they are slowly expanding what they offer, As well as more choices for meals!
If they would have started with more options. There would be more room for error, And they could potentially make a really bad mistake, Like giving a vegetarian some chicken in their meal.
- Too many details can slow down your original goals.
- The bulk of your customers won't notice the details.
It's easy just work around the clock. Forever.
True! Thats how I've been lately haha! It's paying off though.
The more I am passionate about something, the little "discipline" matters. I just go all in, and burn the time like there's no tomorrow. No 4 hours. 5 hours. It's me marrying time.
But then, there are days I am like screw this - because I have the freedom to do so. Equally pleasurable! :P
true, you gotta grind everyday.
The idea creation is important! Think and Grow Rich preached about this over and over and it is so true!
I loved that book! I agree completely!
It is one I need to read more often! Like at least once a year!
