How You Do Anything Is How You Do Everything!
If I applied this principle to the people I chose to have in my life, In the past, Then I could have avoided a lot of awkward situations and heartache.
We Write Too Much Off
Whether you are looking for a relationship Or a friendship. Don't "write off" the little things they do. I feel like many of us have learned this the hard way at some point. We spend a lot of time and resources around someone, Ignoring the minor things. We later learn that we overlooked many important things that we should have paid more attention to.
Usually When One Thing Is Out Of Alignment, So Is Everything else.
Regardless of Circumstance
We can come up with excuses for anything. And we often do this with people. But also ourselves, And if you allow yourself to constantly come up with excuses to get out of promises. You are more likely to do that even more. While some things are truly legitimate and there isn't a way around it, Many things are simply "excuses."
IGNORE WHAT PEOPLE SAY
Now, I'm not saying you should be a horrible listener. But worry about their actions 10x more.
"Actions speak louder than words" Is so true!
If someone is constantly promising you something, Yet their actions show they probably will never do it. Then don't fall for that crap. Be prepared to do it yourself.
This often happens in relationships. We sometimes have expectations that your partner may or may not know about. We assume they will do X, But their actions show that they won't do X. Even if they claim that they plan to do it at some point. This happened with my long-term relationship. He said he was ready to move it to the next level and show a higher level of commitment (Engagement.) But I should have seen the signs; He wasn't committed to anything in his life in general. Therefore I shouldn't assume he'll "Magically" want to be committed to me.
Look for patterns with people. And don't expect them to stray from those patterns. Sure you can sometimes get lucky, But ultimately you may end up disappointed.
Another Example: If you see someone who procrastinates at work, There is a good chance they also procrastinate at home, In relationships and every other aspect of their life.
Why is this often the case?
Think about it, If you were different in every aspect of your life, You brain would have to juggle that.
That's a lot of work! Your brain often wants to simplify things. That's why we often do things the same way in every area.
If your coworker's desk is a mess, Their home is probably also a mess. That's just how they live their life, And how they keep their stuff. So it would be silly for you to go over to that coworker's house and expect it to be 100% Clean.
Of course, there are always exceptions to this rule. Such as someone who maybe puts too much effort into one area and chooses to neglect the others.
But in most cases: How you do anything, Is how you do everything!
This is all too familiar, my last few ex's and dates always said one thing, but they did the complete opposite or were never what they made out to be.
People in general have that tendency to be particularly untrue with their words, like they have their fingers crossed behind their back in that traditional lie and hope to not be caught out.
You are definitely right, focus on their actions and whether or not they backup their words! :)
Exactly! Isn't that annoying?
I agree a lot of people are like that sadly. So actions are even more important.
After learning the hard way
Lol 😂
But you know we are all humans
Absolutely 100% true. If you practice how to pay attention to detail, and focus on what you do while doing anything - it should spill over and begin to spread throughout the rest of your life.
Exactly! Thats a great example too hehe :)
yeah, absolutely right. we should have believe in ourselves to to anything. Result is our fortune. Great post. Check my work @aonraza
Exactly hehe :)
All this comes from your childhood how your parents have taught you to do stuff and generally have raised you as a human being.
Exactly thats a big part of it. Luckily though if you don't have the best parents you can still make changes to your behavior with some work.
You see what you said you there ? 😂 It's z
Soooooo!!!! True
If I have a friend like that , I can't walk with him or her .I mean I can't be in an office with the messed desk .
Wise thoughts ! Thank you! You need to be able to find contact with people! To engage in communication. To be attentive to each other! To chat! To learn empathy! To empathize!
Good writing
Have a nice day @kaylinart
Thank you :)
I think a lot of us are brought up to not be "difficult" people, which to many means not pointing out "annoying little things" with the justification that we can "deal with it." But it's like sand running into an hourglass... it "becomes something," after a while.
I remember a friend of my dad's telling me "Don't TELL me who you are, SHOW me." In retrospect, seems very appropriate.
So true, I dated a guy who hid things from me. It was excuse after excuse, because he was a bit of a coward. He would lie, say he was sick and couldn't come to my sister's new year's do, next thing, he's out with friends at a party, while I was trying to bring him some soup and herbs for his cold and congestion. I stayed with the guy quite a while, but I never trusted him.
This is why when I met my husband, we needed to have trust, we needed honesty, we were both at that stage. If he forgets, I remind him of things he said he'd do and vice versa, but when it came to our commitment, when we committed, it was for keeps and it was real. As much as the little things had shown distrust with my previous partner, things that I chose to ignore, there were little things here that showed this new guy was a keeper. After 6.5 years, we've learnt so much. I can recognise those signs in my husband when I KNOW he'll forget something again and that he's not trying to forget, so we I know what to do to help him remember. Honesty and we don't get on each other's nerves...as much. But it's more mundane, when it comes to emotions and the relationship, the signs were there that my husband would be there for me and love me for the rest of our lives. Those good signs also can't be ignored, otherwise we might miss something amazing and latch on to something crappy.
